After Reunion 2008

We all now have a completed website.  Those of you who have not sent in biographies and pictures, please do enrich all our memories with these.  The big focus now is on pictures from Reunion 2008.  I will be posting these in albums as you send them in.

Vacation!
I will be on vacation from June 29 through July 21.  If you need help with the website in that time, Keith Sanderson is in charge.  The chat lists are automated, so you can post to them as usual.  Please get your bios, photos, and essays ready and send them in for your personal pages.  Thanks.

All of your pictures are on your personal pages.  Have a look!

Some contributions are beginning to come in.  Please send in more bios and pictures.  And don't forget the dialog pages and the memory pages.

A Little Progress

Hi Everyone,

I am almost done building all your personal pages--the photos will take longer.  Please check the photo on the home page to make sure that everyone's names are right, and that I have used the name for you that you prefer to be called by.  Same for your names on the navigation bar on the left, and at the top of your personal pages.  Any of the women who use married names and want them included anywhere, please tell me your additional name and in which places you want it displayed--unless you tell me otherwise I will use the following name style:  First-name (Unmarried-last-name) Married-last-name.

People are starting to send in biographies, and the first "This I Belive" contribution.  Material is arriving to me by emails, and some photos by US mail for me to scan.  (By the way, I can scan slides and negatives as well.)  I will be posting a batch of these in the next few days.  This is now my top priority.

My second priority it to finish creating a blank personal page for everyone and place all your yearbook senior photos on those pages.  This will take a while, but if you send a contribution for your personal page, I will create/update it promptly.

After that, I will work on any ideas you have contributed for additional discussion pages, topic pages, or other forms of sharing.

Dare I say it--keep those cards and letters coming!

Class Website Begins

Hello Everyone,

We now have a class website.  Here you are on it.

It isn't nearly done, but the basics are in place and you can start using it. I have contacted the Milne website folks and ask them to add a link to our site.

The first thing you will see is our group graduation picture, and you will see that I have not put in all the names under it yet.  Would someone like to help me with this and send me a schematic of the remaining names, and check the ones that I have filled in?  If you are going to do this, let everyone else know so they don't also do it.  I used the names I remembered you by--if you prefer a different name or nickname, just let me know.

Along the left side are navigation buttons.  Just click on them to go to other pages.  Most of the pages are blank, but I have set them up and they are ready to be filled with content from all of you.  They are just my own ideas of what we might have.  They can be removed, and others added if you like.

I have also set up the framework for personal pages for everyone, but so far have built only a dozen or so at random to give you the idea.  I will soon build them all.  I put some content onto my own, but these are your own personal spaces and you can decide on your own content (Keith Sanderson already sent his life story since Milne).  Send it to me and I will put it on your page: text or photos.  I think I can even put in music and videos--haven't tried it yet, though.  I have in mind to scan everyone's senior pictures from the yearbook and put them on the individual pages for you.  If you have another Milne period picture you would rather use, please email or US mail it to me.  I also think it would be great to see some pictures from you over the years on these pages.

The list of large-type names on the home page is temporary.  As I build each personal page, I remove the name from that list--this is just bookkeeping.  I copied the list from the Milne database of our class.  Please send me an email if there are corrections needed.

Any contribution to any of the pages you want to make, either email it directly to me, or send it to me (it comes by email anyway) through the website page, "Post Something on the Website."

You can also carry on conversations with everyone else on the Chat pages--this is intended to replace these "reply all" emails.  I can set up any number of conversation topics--just tell me what you want.

Any additional pages (there is no limit!) that you want to add--just tell me.

I also am hoping some of you will decide to help with the actual site building--it isn't much harder than PowerPoint.  If you are interested, I will give you the password.  For example, Jim Nayor might want to build the Bulletin Board page himself.  And the reunion committee might want to build their own page.  But if you don't want to, send me the material and I will post it.

I have in mind that the website will not only be a collection of words, stories, and pictures, but also an ongoing conversation between all of us.  Keith Sanderson had some ideas for collaborative activities that might take place on the website and I will be working on setting some of them up with his advice.  If anyone else has ideas for things they would like to see "happen" on the website, please let's discuss it.

One more thing, in an age of identity theft, please don't post ANY highly personal information on the website--like your birth dates, phone numbers, or addresses.  Even sending these by email is not 100% safe because everyone's home computer is subject to keystroke-shadowing spyware.

That's all for now.  Any problems, send me an email.
