College: Graduated from Harvard in 1967 with a degree in chemistry.  Obtained a Ph.D. in biology from Stanford in 1973.  Did post-doctoral work in pharmacology at Stanford from 1973 to 1976.

Profession:  Since 1976, I have been on the faculty in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio; I am now a professor there.  I do research and teach.  Our research relates largely to cancer.  I teach both graduate and medical students.  I direct the Medical Biochemistry course for the first-year medical students (about 220 in the class).

Married:  In 1969 married Marilyn Anderson, a fellow graduate student at Stanford.  We divorced in 1978.  In 1981, I married Linda Gleason, a speech pathologist.  Linda is now an audiologist and works at Sunshine Cottage School for Deaf Children.  She is also an artist working in mosaics and fused glass.

Children:  Sara Diana, born 1983.  She graduated from Barnard College in 2006.  She is presently in her first year in the Master of Architecture program at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Contacts:  I have been in constant contact with Marc Kessler since we left Milne and we often get together.  In recent years, I have re-established contact with Steve Levitas and I often see him when I am in DC.  Also re-established contact with Susan Weinstock; Linda and I visited her in Chicago two weeks before she passed away.  Very recently, Dan Morrison and his wife Pearl came to visit.  I have had occasions to see Bill Barr, Paul Feigenbaum, Susan Weiner Korn, and Jim Vaughn in recent years.

Best Memories:  I really enjoyed Milne and loved the class of 1963, so I have too many good memories to select only a few.

Worst Memories:  Playing football in gym class, and---being shy.

Travels, Vacations, Hobbies, Publications:  I travel a lot in my work (meetings, seminars, research projects) and also we travel for pleasure as well.  Some travel highlights include working 6 weeks in Antarctica and climbing Kilimanjaro (I made it to 15,000 feet, Linda to 18,700 feet).  I love to hike and try to go at every opportunity.  I have published quite a few research papers as well as two biochemistry books.  Recently, I wrote two history books and have attempted, so far unsuccessfully, to get them published.

Other:  I read a lot, mostly history, thrillers, and some science (not related to biochemistry).  We watch a lot of movies.

My wife, Linda, is an artist in fused glass, mosaic, and metals.  Please click on this link to visit her website:  http://rightbrainart.com/.
